The Missouri Department of Conservation will once again be providing free food plot seed to all interested landowners.

Dates scheduled for distribution are Tuesday, April 1 at the MDC office east of Chillicothe, Wednesday, April 2 at the MDC Building on the North Central Missouri Fairgrounds in Trenton and Thursday, April 17 at the MDC Lake Paho office in Princeton. Time for distribution will be from 5 to 7 p.m. each day. Staff will not be on hand prior to 5 p.m. to distribute seed.
Landowners will need to know an accurate acreage estimate and bring some type of container to collect the seed. There will be a limit on the amount of food plot seed a landowner can receive to ensure fair distribution. Groups owning one tract of land will be treated as one landowner. Milo, sunflowers, turnips and some soybeans are expected to be available. Availability is not guaranteed and some supplies are very limited. All seed will be distributed on a first-come. first-serve basis.
A limited supply of seed will be available at the Grundy, Livingston and Mercer county NRCS offices or the Chillicothe MDC office. For more information, persons can call MDC Private Land Conservationist Scott Roy at the Grundy County NRCS office.
