Max Schilling, a 67-year-old resident of rural Trenton, died at 3:39 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at his residence, where he was under hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery at Trenton.
A Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Visitation will follow and last until 8 p.m.
Mr. Schilling was born on March 6, 1941 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Eugene and Dorothy Daughtery Schilling. He graduated from Warsaw (IL) High School and received an associate of applied science degree in machine tool from Linn Tech in Linn.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959. He was married on Sept. 25, 1965 at Wayland to Georgia Schreck, who survives of the home. They moved to a farm southeast of Trenton in 1976, raising cattle and hay. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He worked for Modine Manufacturing for 25 years, retiring at the age of 61.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia, of the home; his mother, Dorothy, of Warsaw; three sons, Shawn Schilling and his wife, Lisa, of Trenton, Douglas Schilling and his wife, Marie, of Tip City, OH, and Kevin Schilling of Trenton; a daughter, Sherry Searcy and her husband, Joe, of Trenton; a sister, Dorothy Kay Waisath and her husband, Wayne, of Warsaw; three brothers, Robert Schilling and his wife, Margaret, of Keokuk, Thomas Schilling of Phoenix, AZ and Craig Schilling and his wife, Donna, of Cave Creek, AZ; and five grandchildren, Maddie Searcy, Cole Schilling, Sam Schilling, Luke Schilling and Malachi Schilling.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial donations are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church and may be left at the funeral home.
