Lady Pirates Continue To Score Runs In Florida

The North Central Missouri College women’s softball team continued to roll in Orlando, FL as the Lady Pirates took two more wins Monday afternoon. The Lady Pirates’ offense continued to score big as they won game one, 20-2, and game two, 13-2.

Game one saw the Lady Pirates take on Penn State Abbington, the team they beat twice Sunday by a combined score of 44-0. Monday’s match-up also belonged to the Lady Pirates as they won 20-2.
The Lady Pirate offense continued to rattle the bats as they quickly ran up the score in the early innings. North Central got a boost from Kallie Walczak, who crushed a solo-shot home run in the fourth inning when they game was well in hand.
At the plate NCMC got solid performances from Erica Carr, who went three-for-four with four RBI’s. Tiffany Thompson went two-for-two with two RBI’s and Megan Watkins went three-for-four with two runs scored.
Lauren Cain handled the majority of the pitching duties and picked up the win.
In game two, the Lady Pirates faced Westfield State College out of Maine. Despite playing a team Head Coach Max Mothersbaugh called “a lot better ballclub than Penn State Abington,” the result was similar as the Lady Pirates cruised to a 13-2 win.
Walczak went the distance on the hill, picking up the win while allowing seven hits and striking out five.
At the plate the Lady Pirates were again strong, putting up 13 runs. Watkins had another strong game, going three-for-three at the plate with two runs scored. Lana Dunning also scored two runs on a day where she went two-for-three at the plate, and Meghan Oden drove in three runs on a two-for-three showing at the dish.
The two wins improved the Lady Pirates to 4-0 on the season.
North Central will be in action again today as they face off with St. Clair County Community College out of Michigan in a doubleheader.
