School districts with the same number of candidates as positions that are open are not required to hold an election. Cities, however, must hold an election even if there are no contested races.
Voters in Harrison, Jefferson, Madison and Taylor townships have no races that will be on the ballot, while some other townships have limited issues. One precinct voting site has been moved for this election only.
Voters in Trenton’s First and Second Wards will have an election, although only the uncontested races for city council will appear on the ballot. In the Third Ward, which votes in the educational wing of the First Christian Church, rural voters in the Pleasant R-6 School District will cast votes, as well as those from Lincoln Township who are in the R-6 District. Due to a very few number of Lincoln Township voters who are in the R-6 district, Lincoln Township voters will go to that polling site for this election only and will return to the regular voting site at Tindall for subsequent elections.
Voters in Trenton’s Fourth Ward who are in the Pleasant View R-6 School will cast ballots at the usual location, the recreational center at First Baptist Church and will also have the uncontested spot on the Trenton City Council on the ballot.
Only Liberty Township voters who are within the Galt city limits will cast ballots this time and only Myers Township voters who live within the boundaries of the Spickard R-2 School District, will need to vote. Both sets of voters will cast ballots at the Galt Baptist Church.
All Franklin Township voters will have issues on the ballot, while only Washington Township voters who will in the Spickard R-2 or Princeton R-5 school districts will vote. Both townships vote at the Spickard Christian Church.
Those voting at the Laredo Community Building include Wilson Township voters who live within the Laredo city limits or within the boundaries of the Pleasant View R-6 School, as well as Marion Township voters who live within the R-6 School District.
Wednesday is the last date to register to vote in the April 8 election, with absentee ballots now available. Absentee ballots may be cast until 5 p.m. Monday, April 7.
