Animal research being conducted at the University of Missouri Thompson Farm near Spickard was the program topic during Thursday’s meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club. Phil Hoffman was the program chairman.
Animal Research Is Topic Of Rotary Program
Dr. David Patterson, a professor of animal science at MU, was the speaker, discussing research currently being conducted at the Thompson Farm. He said grants have been received for research in cow-calf production, reproduction technology in the areas of genetics, artificial insemination, controlled time of birth, herd management and quality production. He expressed his appreciation for the Thompson Farm, which provides an area to conduct the research. He noted that Missouri is ranked number two in cow-calf production in the nation and it provides 20 percent of the state’s economy.
President Chris Hoffman reminded members of the fifth and sixth grade basketball tournament, which will run through Saturday. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Rissler Elementary School Reading Program.
