Pleasant View Teams Win

The Pleasant View R-6 fifth and sixth grade basketball teams continued to roll Wednesday night as their squads swept Spickard at the Grundy R-5 Elementary Round Robin Basketball Tournament. The girls put on a dominating performance, winning 28-11, while the boys were equally as impressive, winning 41-12.

Pleasant View jumped ahead early in the girls’ contest, going up 10-3 in the first quarter. The Lady Blue Jays continued to show the way in the second quarter, running out to a 16-5 halftime lead. The second half was all Pleasant View as well, as the Lady Blue Jays went on to take the 28-11 win.
Madison Trump led the way for Pleasant View, scoring a game-high 12 points. Tosha Wilson also hit double figures, scoring 10 points. Spickard was led by Mikaela Munday, who scored five points.
The Pleasant View boys also took a big lead in the first quarter, setting the tone early with a 14-0 run. By halftime, the Blue Jays’ lead had grown to 21-4. In the second half, Pleasant View continued to dominate both ends of the floor, running away with the 41-12 win.
Chanse Houghton led the way for the Blue Jays, scoring 16 points. Alex Curtis was right behind him, pouring in 15 points. The Blue Jays also got a boost from Tyler Lynch, who scored seven. Spickard was led by Levi Robert, who scored six points.
