The soldiers are part of the main body which is supporting the NATO-led Kosovo Force mission along with approximately 1,000 other soldiers from the state. Around 150 soldiers have been selected for the mission from units in Maryville, Albany, Chillicothe, Independence, Marshall and Richmond.
The troops will train for three weeks at Camp Crowder in Neosho, then report to Camp Atterbury in Edinburg, IN for further mobilization training. After the training, the force will travel to the joint multi-national readiness center in Hoehfels, Germany, where they will be placed in realistic tactical situations that might arise while in Kosovo. After final validation at the center, the task force will deploy to Kosovo. They are expected to finish their mobilization in late March 2009.
