The Board of Directors of the Green Hills Animal Shelter met on Thursday, Feb. 28 at the former Orscheln building with committees reporting on progress in a variety of areas.
Animal Shelter Board Meets
Members heard a report on the recent pet adoption day hosted by Orscheln Farm and Home. The event, held Feb. 23, was viewed as being quite successful seeing a total of six dogs being adopted. A $75 adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of spaying or neutering the pet and inoculations. A second adoption day is being discussed, but details are not yet final.
Basic dog obedience classes were scheduled to begin on March 25 at the new shelter building. The eight-week class focuses on basic commands such as sit, heel, stay, down, come, etc. Individuals interested in participating in a class are encouraged to contact Honey Creek Veterinary Clinic at 359-9908. An $80 fee is charged for the sessions.
The board discussed a spring fundraiser, began review of a proposed business plan and examined a series of floor plans for the proposed Shelter facility. The plans tentatively outline areas for holding pens for stray dogs and cats, office space, etc.
