Lady Hawks Look Strong In Win

The Gilman City Lady Hawks gave the Cainsville Redettes a friendly reminder that they are the number-one seed in the Class 1, District 14 Tournament by beating them 76-13 on Tuesday night in Trenton.

Gilman came out with a 20-4 run to open the game and never looked back. Gilman scored 17 or more points in each of the four quarters and held Cainsville to five points or less in each frame.
The Lady Hawks went on a 17-2 run in the second quarter, which gave them a 37-6 halftime lead.
The second half was a mirror image of the first as the Lady Hawks continued to pour it on. When the final buzzer went off, the Lady Hawks had taken the game by 63 points.
Gilman got big games from Monica Wilson and Kyla Payne. Wilson led the way with 29 points while Payne cracked the 20-point barrier as well, scoring 25. Freshman Taylor Whitney also put up double digits with 12 points.
The win advances the Lady Hawks to 23-2 on the season and clinched a trip to the semifinals.
The Lady Hawks will face off with Pattonsburg in the semifinals today at 4 o’clock at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.
Pattonsburg advanced to the semifinal round with a 39-25 win over North Harrison on Tuesday night.
