The game was fairly competitive in the first quarter as the Lady Cardinals jumped out to a slim 15-12 lead. From that point on, however, it was the Mandy Eastin show, as the Lady Cardinals ran away with a dominating win. Eastin put up eight points in the second quarter as Mercer went on an 18-9 run to grab control of the game, and take a 33-21 haltime lead.
In the third quarter, Mercer continued to roll, outscoring the Lady Knights 24-7. Eastin put up 10 more points and Jessica Coon scored eight as the game began to get out of hand for North Daviess. Mercer displayed solid defense in the final frame, holding the Lady Knights to just four points on their way to the win.
Mercer was led by Eastin, who scored a game-high 22 points. Coon also had a strong night, finishing with 14 points. Allison Hartley hit double figures as well, scoring 12 points.
The win gave the Lady Cardinals a final regular season record of 11-12 and gave them a 5-5 final showing in HDC Conference games.
Mercer will return to action Tuesday night in district play at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton. Mercer will face off with North Daviess in a re-match at 7 p.m. The Mercer boys will be in action tonight. The Cardinals face Ridgeway at 4 o’clock.
