She is the ninth signee for Coach Max Mothersbaugh for the 2008-09 season.
VerKuilen, an infielder, received many honors during her high school softball career, including first team all-conference, all-conference MVP, all-district, all-area, all-regional, all-area MVP, and all-state. In basketball she was named to the all-conference second team.
Her career batting average of .513, slugging percentage of .693, and fielding percentage of .943 prompted her high school coach to say, “Tara is an extremely hardworking individual. She will do whatever it takes to be successful both academically as well as athletically. She has also demonstrated herself to be a strong leader by her actions.”
A member of the Timberidge Community Church, FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, Letterman Club, honor roll, the A-Plus program, and Renaissance during high school, VerKuilen plans to transfer to the University of Missouri to major in agriculture or medicine after completing her two-year degree at NCMC.
