Abbie Herrold, a senior at Gilman City High School, has signed a letter of intent to play softball at North Central Missouri College in Trenton for the 2008-09 season. Herrold is the seventh recruit signed by NCMC softball coach Max Mothersbaugh.

A catcher, Herrold is the daughter of Dan and Debbie Herrold of Gilman City and the granddaughter of Dale and Carol Herrold of Trenton and Harold and Donna Carter of Gilman City.
Herrold was named to the HDC All-Conference team and was also an all-district selection. Herrold hit .731 during her senior season, with 34 RBI’s and two home runs.
“Abbie was a solid catcher and a great hitter for Gilman City,” Gilman City Head Softball Coach Jacob Wilson said. “I look for her to continue this at the college level.”
In addition to softball, she is involved in basketball and track, where she took first in the HDC Conference shot put and discus competitions.
Herrold is a member of the National Honor Society, student council and has been on the A Honor Roll at Gilman City for four years.
Herrold eventually wants to teach in the health/physical education or English area and coach basketball or softball.
