The Board of Directors of the Green Hills Animal Shelter continues to work toward its goal of developing a safe haven for stray or abandoned animals in the Green Hills area.
Animal Shelter Board Still At Work
With the recent acquisition of the former Orscheln building, the shelter board is presently evaluating what building modifications are necessary to achieve its goal.
At a recent board meeting, members of the Business Plan Committee advised they would be meeting with Steve Holt, who is the director of the Small Business Development Center in Chillicothe to solicit his input on board priorities. Members of the committee will also solicit information from Wayside Waifs, an animal shelter based in the Kansas City area to obtain additional insight on shelter functions.
Members have also discussed a possible spring fundraising idea, (tentatively discussed as an early May event) upcoming dog obedience classes and evaluated two offers received from local businesses regarding the possible sale of shelter property located on East Seventh Street. If negotiations are successful, proceeds from the sale will be used to help refurbish and equip the former Orscheln site as an animal shelter.
