Tri-County was locked in a close game in the first half, but a 16-2 run in the third quarter and a 14-4 run in the fourth quarter turned the game into a blow out late.
The Lady Mustangs did a good job finding the basket early in the contest, but Breckenridge hung with them and didn’t allow Tri-County to pull away. After a quarter of play, Tri-County led 14-10. The Lady Mustangs could not pad their lead any in the second quarter as both teams’ defenses stepped up and held their opponents to just eight points. Tri-County led at the half, 22-18.
The second half was a completely different story. The Lady Mustangs displayed a very strong defense and made scoring look easy. Tri-County went on a big run and the rout was on. When the dust settled, the Lady Mustangs had taken the game by 28 points.
Taryn Dustman scored a game-high 25 points to lead the way for the Lady Mustangs. Laurie Eads and Bailey Huston hit double digits as well, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The win moved the Lady Mustangs to 11-3 overall on the season.
Tri-County will face Gilman City in a rematch of last season’s tournament championship game. The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday night.
