The district Elks Hoop Shoot was held Saturday in Cameron. Three area athletes brought home trophies and two qualified for the State Elks Hoop shoot in St. Louis.

Courtney Owens of Mercer hit 18-of-25 free throws to take first in the girls 12-13 age division and punch her ticket to St. Louis. Jaran Richman of Princeton also hit 18-of-25 to take first in the boys 8-9 age division and earn himself a trip to St. Louis. Abbey Wells of Newtown-Harris also got a trophy for finishing second in the girls 8-9 age division. Wells hit 12-of-25 free throws on her way to second place.
Owens and Richman will compete in the Elks State Hoop Shoot on Feb. 9.
