Collins is a sophomore at Trenton High School and received the award during the annual Fire and EMS Christmas Banquet. It is presented each year to an explorer, selected by post advisors, who has exemplified the characteristics of an outstanding Fire Explorer within the post.
Collins is the son of Steve and Carolyn Collins of Trenton and the grandson of Kay Collins of Trenton and Don and Virginia Hoffman of Cameron.
