Tigers Fall In Unionville

The Princeton High School boys basketball team suffered a close loss in Unionville on Tuesday night as they fell 78-66 to Putnam County. The girls also fell, taking a 62-17 loss.

Tigers
Princeton was able to grab hold of the lead in a very close first quarter as they took a 13-12 advantage in the first eight minutes. The game continued to be very close into the second quarter as neither team could gain an advantage. When time in the first half expired, Princeton found themselves in a 33-33 tie with Putnam County.
Putnam County took the lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 20-17 to go up 53-50 heading into the final quarter of play.
Princeton fell off down the stretch and was forced to foul, making the final margin of victory 78-66.
“Overall we played much better,” Princeton Head Coach Dave Richman said. “The final score was a little deceptive of how close the game was. We were very unselfish and balanced again.”
Ethan Stark was the high scorer for the Tigers, putting up 19 points. Brycen Stark also hit double digits, scoring 12 points. Princeton also got solid performances from Jordan Richman, who had nine points, and Corey Teeter, who had eight.
Princeton fell to 2-4 with the loss.
Lady Tigers
The Princeton girls also suffered a loss as they fell 62-17. Putnam County jumped ahead early and ran away with the game.
Princeton was led by Christy Hart, who had a team-high eight points.
Both teams will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Milan for a makeup game. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
