Lady Bulldogs
The seventh grade girls dominated their Putnam County opponents, winning 20-6 in their final game of the season. With the win, the seventh grade team finished the season undefeated with a perfect 8-0 record.
Trenton jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Maddie Hooyman had a big night under the hoop, scoring a game-high 12 points. Avery Whitaker scored six and Chandler Wilson rounded out the team’s efforts with two points.
The eighth grade girls were unable to duplicate the seventh grade team’s success as they fell, 36-17.
Turnovers and poor shooting plagued the Lady Bulldogs throughout the night. Trenton trailed 12-0 after the first quarter and 22-3 at halftime. Trenton could do no better in the second half as they fell in the end.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Chanel Pash, who scored a team-high six points. Trenton fell to 9-4 with the loss and has one game remaining.
Bulldogs
The seventh grade boys won what was, by far, the most exciting game of the night, beating the Midgets, 25-24.
It was the Bulldog defense that won the game for them. Trailing by one with time winding down, Austin Taul stole the ball and went the length of the court for the go-ahead layup. Trenton’s defense then stepped up and shut down Putnam County’s final attempt to retake the lead, holding on for the win.
Taul led the way for the Bulldogs with 13 points and Seth Acton pitched in 12 to aid the Bulldog efforts.
The seventh grade squad improved to 4-3 on the season with the win.
The eighth grade team suffered a 40-17 loss to Putnam County in the night’s final game.
Keegan McGinness led the way with 11 points for the Bulldogs, but it would not be enough as Putnam County took the win.
Both eighth grade teams and the seventh grade boys will finish their seasons tonight in Carrollton. The seventh grade boys will play the first game at 5 p.m. with eighth grade action to follow.
