Beier noted that the recent weather has caused massive tree debris problems for many property owners and communities and that once the storm system exits, contractors and private business may start contacting citizens and communities, offering their services for debris removal. Beier said that local officials and citizens need to be cautious and only work with reputable debris removal contractors.
“If you are approached by anyone offering debris removal services, be sure to ask for references,” Beier said.
Persons who feel that have been victimized should contact their local law enforcement officials or the Missouri Fraud Hotline at 1-800-392-8222.
