The Grundy R-5 junior high basketball teams closed out their seasons Friday night at home against North Harrison in Galt. While the boys squad fell 28-20, the girls grabbed their 10th win of the season, handing the Lady Shamrocks a 24-10 loss.

The Lady Panthers took a 10-5 lead at the half and pulled away for a win in the end.
“Our defense gave up only one point over the last nine minutes of the game,” Head Coach Curtis May said. “This was a nice way to end the season.”
Marina Munday led the way for the Lady Panthers, scoring 10 points and collecting seven rebounds. Shelbi Stimpson also had a big game, scoring six points and pulling down eight rebounds. Vanessa Lentz and Mina Headrick each had six steals for Grundy.
The Lady Panthers finished the season with a 10-5 record.
The boys squad fought hard, but came up a little short as they fell, 28-20. A 13-2 run by the Shamrocks in the first quarter set the tone early. R-5 went on a 10-2 run in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers lost.
Mitch Alley led the way with eight points and six rebounds for the Panthers. Lucas Williams had a team-high 10 rebounds and Skylar Skinner dished out three assists.
