Princeton Clinches Trip To Final Four

The Princeton Tigers blew out the West Platte Blue Jays on Monday night, 45-14. The win sends the Tigers to the Class 1 Missouri State High School Activities Association football semifinals.

Princeton got the job done with the run, amassing 541 yards of rushing offense. Three Princeton players hit the century mark with Brad Brundage leading the way. Brundage ran for 258 yards on 14 carries, an average of over 18 yards a carry. Morgan Duff ran for 166 yards and Chris Parsons hit 119 yards on the night.
Princeton’s rushing attack wore down the Blue Jay defense. A total of 363 of Princeton’s rushing yards came in the second half, and 212 yards of that came in the fourth quarter.
West Platte struck first, driving down the field for a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ryan Humes. The Blue Jays would take that lead into the second quarter before Princeton found the end zone.
Princeton scored with 9:28 left in the second quarter. It was Parsons who found the end zone from 12 yards out to put the Tigers on the board. A failed two-point conversion, however, left the Tigers trailing 7-6.
Just under five minutes later, Princeton took the lead on a Brundage 30-yard touchdown run. Princeton again failed on the two-point try, but had a 12-7 lead that the Tigers would take into half time.
West Platte regained the lead at the start of the second half when Roe again scored, this time on a 26-yard keeper.
Brundage regained the lead for the Tigers two minutes later when he shook loose for a 24-yard touchdown run. Duff scored on the two-point try, giving Princeton a 20-14 lead that the team would not relinquish.
Princeton scored two more times in the third quarter, once on a pass from Troy Meinke to Ethan Stark and again on a Duff five-yard run. Going into the final quarter, Princeton had built a 32-14 lead.
The fourth quarter was all Princeton as the Tigers scored two more times to close out their 45-14 quarterfinal victory.
Duff scored on a 26-yard run, and Brundage scored on the play of the night, a 93-yard run that put an exclamation mark on Princeton’s win.
The win advanced the Tigers’ record to 10-2 on the season.
The Tigers travel to Excelsior Springs on Saturday for a semifinal matchup with Orrick, who is ranked first in the Missouri Class 1 Associated Press poll. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
