The North Central Missouri College men’s basketball team competed in the Allen County Classic over the weekend in Iola, KS.
The Pirates were in action for two games, losing to Allen County 74-56 on Friday, before rebounding with an 88-47 win over Bacone University.

In game one, the Pirates faced a strong opponent in Allen County. The host school jumped on the Pirates early and did not look back as Allen County pulled away throughout the game for the win.
Leading the way for NCMC in the losing effort was Byron Bundy, who had a team-high 16 points. Brandon Thomas also had a good night for the Pirates, scoring 12.
“We played a good team on their home floor,” Head Coach Steve Richman said of the game. “I wasn’t completely displeased with our performance.”
North Central rebounded nicely on Saturday with an 88-47 win over Bacone University.
The Pirates played well throughout the contest as they cruised to the win. NCMC had four players in double figures, with Martin Roper leading the way with 18. Right behind Roper was Bundy, who poured in 17 in another good performance. Kyle Larson scored 14 and Devin Eighmey had 10.
“This was a good bounce back game for us,” Richman said. “We played a team we should have beat and that is exactly what we did.”
NCMC moved to 2-2 on the season following the Allen County Classic and will look to build off that tonight when they host Missouri Valley College at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton. The women’s team will also be at home tonight against Moberly Area Community College. Action kicks off at 6 o’clock with the women’s game. The men’s game will follow.
Both squads will also be in action this weekend when they host the NCMC Classic at the Ketcham Community Center.
