A wacky committee meeting is portrayed on stage in the first scene of “Barbequing Hamlet,” which will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on No. 15, 16 and 17, in the Hoover Theatre in the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library. Four Trenton actors play the members of the board of the Peaceful Glen Memorial Theatre. If the name sounds odd, it’s because the theatre was previously a funeral home.
Linda Dannull plays the president of the board. Unsure of what her exact duties are, she lets the meeting run wild. Mrs. Dannull and her husband, Rex, have three grown daughters. She is retired from the Trenton R-9 school district and devotes a great deal of her time to working in her church.  Mrs. Dannull has appeared in many TAG plays, including “Said the Spider to the Spy” and “A Country Christmas Carol.”
Nancy Jones plays the clueless secretary who arrives at the meeting without a pen. Ms. Jones is a laboratory director at Wright Memorial Hospital. She made her TAG debut in a leading role in last fall’s TAG musical “A Country Christmas Carol,” in which she performed with her daughter, Samantha. She has also appeared in the TAG production of “Said the Spider to the Spy.”
Ann Sampson portrays a disgruntled board member, Hope, who wanted to be board president and is always finding fault with the person actually elected.
Mrs. Sampson is the librarian at North Central Missouri College. She is married to Kerry Sampson and has one son, John. A self-proclaimed “HGTV addict,” Mrs. Sampson has played the Wicked Stepmother in “Cinderella,” Charlotte in “Moon over Buffalo” and Zora in “Inspecting Carol.”
All three of these actresses sang in the Trenton Sesquicentennial play last summer. They carried hatchets as the Spickardsville Crusaders and portrayed 1940s women and flappers.
The fourth board member is played by Eric Lorenz. His character loves to tell long stories that involve explosions and dismemberment.
Lorenz is the son of Larry and Jan Lorenz He has appeared in many TAG and NCMC shows, including “See How They Run”, “Inspecting Carol” and “Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” Eric is a firefighter with the Trenton Fire Department.
Advance tickets for “Barbequing Hamlet” are available at the Ketcham Community Center on the NCMC campus.  Tickets are free for those with Grundy County Friends of the Arts season tickets and NCMC students with proper ID.  Tickets for all others are $8. All seats are reserved, so everyone needs to have a ticket.
An optional meal at the Wild Onion Cafe is available from 5 to 7 p.m. for those attending the play.  Meal tickets are $13.50 and include the choice of three entrees – barbequed smoked brisket, pork loin or chicken fettuccini. The price includes drink, salad, potato or pasta, bread, dessert, tax and tip. Meal tickets can be purchased at the KCC until Wednesday, Nov. 14.
