Rissler Elementary School and Trenton Middle School students will present special programs Friday in observance of Veterans Day, which is Sunday, Nov. 11.
Veterans Day Programs Scheduled
The Rissler Student Council will sponsor a Veterans Day assembly at 8:15 a.m. on Friday in the school gym. All veterans and those currently serving in the military are invited to attend the event, which will include the presentation of certificates of appreciation. Veterans will be served snacks in the school cafeteria at the conclusion of the assembly.
The TMS Vocal Music Department will present “This is America,” a program to honor veterans. The program will be held at 7 p.m. in the TMS gym and will feature the sixth, seventh and eighth grade choirs, music from the fifth grade music classes under the direction of Tim Gilham, the fifth and sixth grade after-school choir, and Gold Rush members and the Concert Choir under the direction of George Brundage.
The audience will hear patriotic music, music of times past and songs to honor veterans. The program is under the direction of TMS Vocal Music Instructor Sherry Whitt, with the assistance of THS Vocal Music Instructor George Brundage and narrator Gloria Carpenter.
The concert is free and open to the public. All veterans are encouraged and invited to attend.
