According to City Clerk Phillip Edmundson, city taxes will now be collected by the city collector only at city hall. The collector will be at city hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Thursday and Friday during the months of November and December and on Fridays in January and February. After that time, persons can pay their taxes at city hall or mail them in.
The city clerk hours have been changed, with Edmundson now being at city hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Because of the shortened hours, a drop box is being installed for persons to leave their utility payments and other correspondence at city hall.
Paperwork for a grant to purchase a new tractor has been sent in to the Missouri Rural Assistance program and Edmundson said it is hoped information can be received soon. The city will be responsible for $4,175 of the total cost.
The city is participating in the Laredo R-7 Partners as Education Program. As part of that program, children will be coming to city hall to decorate for Christmas.
The aldermen will also be sponsoring a Christmas decorating contest for residents in the city. Persons who want to participate are asked to decorate their homes, then indicate on their November utility bill when it is paid that they want to be judged. The aldermen will determine the date for judging at its next meeting, which will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3. Prizes of $75 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third will be awarded. All others will receive certificates of participation.
