Joann W. Sealock, an 83-year-old resident of Pittsfield, IL, died on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 at the Pittsfield Manor. The body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield. Revs. William Herald, Rev. Frank Claybourne and Rev. Eugene Guthrie officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Sealock was born on March 26, 1924 in Trenton, the daughter of Harold and Meryle Miller Witten. She was married on Nov. 16, 1946 in Edinburg to Rev. William E. Sealock, who preceded her in death on March 2, 1959.
Mrs. Sealock graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was a home economics teacher at Winchester High School from 1951 to 1961, then taught home economics from 1961 to 1985 at Pittsfield High School.
She was a member of the Pittsfield Calvary Baptist Church, a director of the Women Missionary Union, association director of the WMU (Bay Creek Area) and taught the children’s youth and adult Sunday school classes. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma, People to People Sororsis Club, Church Women United, Pittsfield Business and Professional Club and the Women’s Club; an Illini Community Hospital volunteer; and a member and past president of Alpha Phi sorority at UMC. She was a Chicago Cubs fan, supported William Jewell College in Liberty and enjoyed collecting angels and seashells.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Sealock and his wife, Jan, of Kansas City, and Dr. Ron Sealock and his wife, Carolyn, of Dothan, AL; one brother, Jim Witten of Trenton; one sister, Mrs. Peggy Craig-Loundon of Kansas City; four grandchildren, Chad Sealock of Palatine, IL, Matthew Sealock of Pittsfield, Ana Moore of Birmingham, AL and Scott Sealock of Birmingham; one great-grandchild, Campbell Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
