The Gilman City junior high boys took a 41-40 overtime win over Pattonsburg on Monday night to advance to the semifinals of the Winston Tournament.
After taking an 11-8 first quarter lead, Gilman City found itself behind by five points at the half, 18-13. The Hawks cut the lead to three points after three quarters, 26-23, and was able to tie the game at 37-37 by the end of regulation. Gilman City outscored Pattonsburg by one in the overtime to take the victory.
Mason Ward scored 20 points to pace the Hawks. Pattonsburg was led by Dillon Lowrey with 15 points and Zach Hulett with 10.
The 2-0 Gilman City squad will play on Thursday night.
