Bert Cameron Niklasen, an 89-year-old resident of Kimballton, IA, died on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at the Mytue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, IA after suffering a fall on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton. Pastor Tony E. Ede will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery at Kimballton.
Special music will include “Nearer My God to Thee”, “Amazing Grace” and “Abide With Me.” Donna Elquist will be the organist.
Casketbearers will be Craig Schuning, Scott Woods, Mark Anthony, Trent Schuning, Dean Niklasen, David Niklasen, Derek Niklasen and Dain Niklasen.
Honorary casketbearers will be Janelle Musfeldt, Toni Larson, Heather De Jong, Paige Doyle, Bobbi Jo Kraszewski and Kristi Niklasen.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 at the Odhe Funeral Home in Kimballton, where general visitation will begin after 4 p.m. on Friday.
Mr. Niklasen was born on Oct. 28, 1917 at his home in Audubon County, IA, the son of Peter and Minnie Christensen Niklasen. He grew up on the family farm near Anita, IA. He was a member of the Lutheran faith. He attended country school and graduated from Adair High School in 1935.
He was married in Adair on March 18, 1937 to Helen Turner, who preceded him in death in 1999 They farmed near Anita for one year before moving to the present family farm near Kimballton. He was a farmer all his life.
He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was the bellringer for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and reading newspapers.
He is survived by four children, Doris Schuning and her husband, John, of Harlan, Myrna Anthonny and her husband, Fred, of Pella, IA, Jean Woods and her husband, Richard, of Trenton and Dale Niklasen and his wife, Betty, of Kimballton; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Larsen of Audubon; a brother-in-law, Neil Turner and his wife, Norma, of Atlantic, IA; three sisters-in-law, Sarah Forsyth and her husband, Frank, of California, Rachael Mueller of California and Mary Lopez of Arizona; and other relatives and friends.
