ommand Unit of the 43rd Area Support Group of Colorado Springs, CO, is serving in Bagram and includes Robyn Figg Leeper, daughter of Mike and Donna Figg and daughter-in-law of Mike and Bev Bosley and Terry Leeper, all of Trenton. The group is attempting to hold a Thanksgiving dinner for the unit, many of whom have been away from home and family since January. Food items for the planned barbecue have already been purchased for the meal, but assistance is needed in having the items shipped.
The Trenton Area Ministerial Alliance has taken on the project and is seeking funds to help with the shipping and packaging of the food. Donations are needed by Oct. 15 in order that the food can be shipped in time for the holiday.
Area churches are being contacted and asked to collect a donation during their services this Sunday to assist with this effort. Mrs. Figg said the items are being shipped through the U.S. Postal Service at a rate of $1 per pound.
Persons wanting to make a donation can contact TAMA president Jennifer Jennings or make a check out, payable to the Trenton Area Ministerial Alliance, and send it to PO Box 391, Trenton, MO 64683. All monies collected will go to the ministerial alliance and once it is determined how much money will be needed to pack and ship the items, TAMA will take care of the costs with the funds that have been donated.
Mrs. Jennings said that any money remaining over and above the costs to ship the items will be used to help pay for the food, which was purchased privately.
