Missouri’s Coordinating Board for Higher Education, along with its presidential advisory committee, will meet on the campus of North Central Missouri College on Thursday, Oct. 11.

Scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the Sugg Conference Room at the Ketcham Community Center, the board will discuss a variety of topics affecting the way higher education is delivered throughout the state. The state system of higher education serves more than 408,000 students through 13 public four-year universities, 19 public two-year colleges, one public two-year technical college, 25 independent colleges and universities, and approximately 150 proprietary and private career schools.
The board will hear updates from the Higher Education Funding task force as well status updates for implementation of Senate Bill 389, including curriculum alignment and rules on consumer information.
Additionally, Missouri Depart-ment of Higher Education staff will present possible revisions to the proprietary school certification statutes, final rules for the Access Missouri Financial Assistance Program and an overview of the FY2009 budget.
The nine-member board meets five times a year and features representation from each of Missouri’s congressional districts. Members are appointed by the governor, confirmed by the Senate and serve six-year terms. No more than five of the nine members may be affiliated with the same political party, and members serve without compensation.
