Volleyball Team Falls At Home

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs volleyball team battled Chillicothe Monday night in Trenton. The Lady Bulldogs played well in the first game, but couldn’t surpass Chillicothe as they fell, 25-14, 25-9.

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a good start in game one. A violation on the Lady Hornets’ part gave Trenton one point before the game even started. Trenton then scored with its first serve of the night to go up 2-0.
Chillicothe rallied back to take two of the next three, cutting the lead to 3-2. The teams then exchanged points, giving Trenton a 4-3 lead.
It would be the last time Trenton would lead as Chillicothe came back to take a 7-4 lead. Trenton didn’t quit, battling back to only trail by one at 9-8.
Trenton held tight with the Lady Hornets, only trailing 11-9. The Lady Bulldogs could not keep pace and lost seven of the next eight points to go down 18-10.
The Lady Hornets led 21-13 when they Lady Bulldogs won a long rally to get what would be their final point of the game as they fell, 25-14.
Game two saw Chillicothe run away with a 25-9 win to take the match, 2-0.
“Chillicothe is a tough team; it’s always going to be tough to play them,” Head Coach Taya Ray said. “I think we had a lack of focus not having school on Monday and having homecoming last week. Hopefully, we can get our game back tonight (Tuesday).”
The junior varsity suffered a similar fate as they fell to Chillicothe, 25-3, 25-7.
The THS volleyball team will be back in action at home this evening for senior night. The Lady Bulldogs will play host to Lathrop with JV action, beginning at 5 o’clock and varsity action to follow. The senior night presentation will take place between the JV and varsity matchups.
