Funeral services for Lester Ebert will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2007 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at Trenton.

General visitation begins at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at the funeral home, were a family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock that evening.
Mr. Ebert, an 87-year-old former Trenton resident, died at 2:20 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Parsons, KS.
Mr. Ebert was born on Oct. 3, 1919 in Salina, KS, the son of Theodore Kesler and Uri Maude Moore Ebert. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. After his discharge, he lived in California and Kansas before transferring to Trenton as a service manager for Montgomery Ward. He was later hired by Modine as a process specialist, working 18 years before retiring to Texas.
He was married on Oct. 9, 1942 to Pearl Metzger, who preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 1983. He was married on Dec. 6, 1984 to Lela Walters Dennis, who preceded him in death on April 1, 2003.
Lester and Pearl were among the founders of the Trenton tradition of placing veterans’ flags around the courthouse on holidays. He constructed the trailer that still stores the flags today. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Weslaco, TX, a lifetime member of the american Legion Post No. 208 in Harlingen, TX and a honorary member of the NARFE.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Rubin of Rock Tavern, NY and Susan Gilbert of Parsons; one step-son, David Hedgpeth of Springfield; a brother, Robert Ebert of Sunnyvale, CA; a sister, Theo Anderson of the state of Washington; four grandchildren, Jennifer Rubin, Jami Sanders, Amy O’Connor and Erin Jenkins; two step-grandchildren, Eric Gilbert and Randi Tyson; three great-grandchildren, Joey Sanders, Piper Sanders and Ryan O’Connor; and one step-great-grandchild, Isaiah Tyson.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ebert, and a sister, Josephine Callabresi.
The family suggests memorials to Parsons Good Samaritan. They may be left at the funeral home or mailed to 709 Leaswood Ave., Parsons, KS 67357.
