Youth Duck Clinic

A youth duck clinic and hunt will be held Oct. 19-20 near Poosey Conservation area, northwest of Chillicothe.
All ages and skill levels are invited to attend the clinic. Youth will need to be at least 11 years of age and hunter-education certified to take part in the hunt.

The clinic will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 at the Poosey Conservation Area. Topics to be covered include decoy placement, wetland habitat, migration patterns, seasonal molting, calling, blind safety, shooting techniques and appropriate lead and non-toxic steel shot.
The hunt will begin one hour before sunrise on Oct. 20, with details to be given to registrants during the clinic. Dogs, blinds and guides will be provided. Shotguns will be available on request. Hunters will need a valid hunter safety card with them during the hunt. Each hunter will receive a free duck call, one decoy and free steel shot.
To register, persons should call the Missouri Department of Conservation office at Chillicothe at 660-646-6122. Students must register before Oct. 16.
