The women discussed the “flu shot drive-through” that will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A map of the route to be used was presented to each member and the map is to also be included in the Green Hills Weekly. The route begins at 22nd Street, where persons will be given their paperwork and the process will be explained. From there, persons will follow the route, eventually going to the Trenton Fire Department, where they will receive their flu shots by “driving through” the two bays at the fire station. Persons covered by Medicaid or Medicare are to bring their cards, however, the shots are being offered at no charge to all others. Persons are asked to car pool and to wear shot sleeves in order to get the shots done quickly.
Pneumonia shots will not be given at this time. They will be available at the health department.
Mrs. Long also spoke of the special diabetes nurse who is also a registered dietician and will be at the health department two times each month, once for personal consultation and once for a group meeting. There were 41 who attended the first meeting. Literature about how to cope with a pandemic disease was also distributed.
A letter of appreciation was read from Lions member James Holcomb, who has been made a lifetime member of the club. He has been a member of the local club for 35 years.
