Building, Nuisance Board Sets Public Hearing

The Trenton Building and Nuisance Board met Monday night at city hall, setting a public hearing and asking for more information on several properties.

According to City Clerk Cindy Simpson, a public hearing was set for Monday, Oct. 22 for property at 1314 Norton, owned by Penny Buswell. The hearing will be at 6 p.m. at city hall.
The board is requesting that information be provided by Cynthia Robertson as to what is being done to property she owns at 2212 Chicago St. as well as a list of what needs to be done in the next 30 to 45 days to property at 401 W. Crowder Road, owned by the Huttons. A request was also made to have windows at the old Cullers Hospital boarded up. The property is owned by Ron Peterie.
Building Inspector Gary Beverlin is to work with Bart Shaw on property Shaw owns at 1103 E. 13th Ct. to determine what needs to be done for the property to meet city code.
Other properties discussed by the board include 1428 Chesnut, 905 Rural and 400 E. 8th St.
The board discussed the need for the city to adopt the 2006 Building Code, but made no recommendation. The code is expected to be discussed by the city council at its next regular meeting, which is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 22.
