Gilbert L. Burchett, a 96-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe.
General visitation is under way at the funeral home until 9 o’clock tonight (Monday, Sept. 24, 2007).
Mr. Burchett was born on April 20, 1911 in Westfalis, KS, the son of Elmer Elsworth and Cora Bell Coulson Burchett. He was married on Jan. 20, 1936 in Warrensburg to Maryann Howland, who preceded him in death on March 9, 2005.
He is survived by one daughter, Kay Chance of Chillicothe; one brother, Gene Burchett of Chillicothe; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cora Carolyn; one brother, Archie; two sisters, Beatrice and Mildred; and one infant grant-grandchild.
