The THS Student Council will sponsor the activities, featuring spirit days, a billboard contest, coronation and dance.
Spirit Days
Monday will be “Strut Your Stuff” Day, with freshmen wearing denim, sophomores wearing polka dots, juniors wearing plaid, seniors wearing stripes and staff dressing in a “flower power” theme.
Tuesday is “Camo Day,” while Wednesday is “Pirate Day,” Thursday is “Nascar/Race Attire” Day and Friday is “Black Out Day.”
Car/Truck Show
The car/truck show is back again after a successful inaugural event last year. The show will be held on Thursday, with Dan Wiebers and Jon Adwell chairing the committee.
Spirit Billboard Competition
Each class is responsible for designing and displaying a spirit billboard, which will be displayed at C.F. Russell Stadium during Friday night’s football game, where the winner will be announced. THS Art Instructor Lana Beverlin, who is the Student Council sponsor with Jackie Hoffman, has scheduled an Art Night for each class, making supplies available for students and class sponsors to work on billboards, as well as floats. The time for the art night is 6 to 9 p.m., with freshmen coming on Sunday, Sept. 23; sophomores on Monday, Sept. 24; juniors on Tuesday, Sept. 25; and seniors on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Coronation and Bonfire
The annual pep rally, which includes the introduction of fall sports teams, the coronation of homecoming royalty and a bonfire, will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the stadium. Senior king and queen candidates were to be named at an assembly held this afternoon at the school. Kendall Crowley, daughter of Jeff and Donalyn Crowley, and Jaren Whitney, son of Jeannie Whitney and Joe Whitney, will serve as crownbearers. The evening’s activities will culminate with a bonfire, sponsored by the Trenton Quarterback Club.
Parade
Former THS Band Instructor Buddy Hannaford and his wife, Karla, who directed the colorguard, are the grand marshals for the parade, which will get under way at 2 p.m. on Friday. Classes in the Trenton R-9 School District will be dismissed early that day and entries should be in line at THS at 1:40 p.m. The route will go from Normal Street at THS to 17th Street, to Harris Avenue to Ninth Street to Kerfoot Street. Parade winners will be announced at the football game.
Bulldogs vs. Tigers
The Trenton Bulldogs will face the Marceline Tigers at 7 p.m. at the stadium, with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The Trenton Rotary Club will sponsor a tailgate party beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Eastside Park and pre-game activities get under way at 6:20 p.m., including recognition of homecoming royalty.
Dance
A dance will be held in the THS commons/gym following the football game, from approximately 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person or $8 per couple.
