In a makeup game from last week, the Grundy R-5 boys picked up a 15-11 five-inning win over Tri-County on Monday night.
It was an offensive show for both teams, with the Panthers jumping out to a 4-2 lead after the first inning and stretching that lead to 7-2 after two innings. Both teams scored four runs in the fourth, then the Panthers added five in the top of the fifth and Tri-County put up six in the bottom of the inning. But it was not enough as R-5 got the victory.

The Panthers were able to score two runs each in the fourth and fifth, but it was too late to make a comeback. Rains took the loss for R-5.
McPike went two-for-three with two RBI’s andBrown was three-for-four, with a home run and four RBI’s.
“Our defense hurt us early,” commented Coach Les Jackson. “We committed eight errors in the first two innings, but Mercer outright crushed the ball up and down the line-up.”
The Lady Panthers lost to the Mercer girls, 22-7. Coach Curtis May said six girls had at least 1 RBI, including Heather Vivone, who drove in two runs on one hit. Vivone was also the losing pitcher.
The R-5 boys are 3-5 on the season while there is no record available for the girls. The two teams will host Ridgeway tonight.
