The Princeton Tigers opened their football season Friday night with a 36-0 win over Putnam County in Princeton.
Princeton dominated the ground game, running up a total of 280 yards on the ground, while holding Putnam County in the red with -18 yards.

Morgan Duff and Chris Parsons led the way for the Tigers. Duff carried 10 times for a team-high 101 yards. Parsons also hit the century mark, carrying the ball seven times for 100 yards. Officially, the Tigers had seven different players get carries.
Princeton got off to a solid start in the first quarter. The Tigers got in the end zone when Duff shook loose for a 59-yard run with 8:44 to go. The Tigers’ point-after attempt was blocked, leaving the Tigers with a 6-0 lead.
Four minutes later it was Parsons breaking free for a 29-yard run. Duff took the ball in on a two-point conversion attempt, putting Princeton up 14-0.
Princeton found the end zone one more time before time ran out in the first quarter as Duff scored on a 15-yard run. Parsons scored on the two-point conversion and the Tigers went up 22-0.
Midway through the second quarter, Princeton scored on yet another long run. Parsons ran one in from 66 yards out to put Princeton on the board yet again. After the two-point conversion failed, Princeton led 28-0 at the half.
Princeton would find the end zone one more time in the second half on a seven-yard pass from quarterback Troy Meinke to Mace Ormsby with 7:44 to go in the third quarter. After a Duff run for the two-point conversion, Princeton led by what would be the final score of 36-0.
The Princeton defense was strong all night, holding Putnam County to just 36 yards of total offense. The Tigers’ defense also forced two turnovers while shutting out the Midgets.
The 1-0 Tigers will host Polo at home next Friday, Sept. 7.
