The church is located 10 miles northwest of Trenton on Route NN.
Sunday School will be held at 9:45 a.m., followed by church services at 11 a.m. A sandwich and salad luncheon will be held at noon. The program is set to start at 2 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.
All church members, former church members and former pastors as well as other persons are invited to attend.
The church began in 1858 with organization of a congregation at the Ford Schoolhouse. Member-ship grew from about 20 to 40 under the leadership of the first pastor, William Downing. The church was disbanded with the start of the Civil War in 1861.
Reorganization of the church began in early 1865 with meetings at the Herbert Schoolhouse. The first actual church house was begun in late 1875 on land donated by W.P. Dalhouse, with the first services held at “Honey Creek Chapel” in September 1877. The first Bible School was organized in April 1880.
The first structure was destroyed by a tornado in 1883, but it was rebuilt and back in use by the fall of 1884.
A decision was made in 1934 to replace the structure with the church that now stands. A dedication was made of the third church in the fall of 1935. Because of donated labor and love offerings, much from B.F. Ford and his wife, Mary, the third church house was dedicated clear of encumbrances of any kind.
Several members of the congregation, the Ladies Aid Society and individual families and friends have made significant donations over the years to keep the church thriving, including a new parsonage that was built in 1959. A new wing was added to the church (seven rooms plus a kitchen area) in 1968.
