Aug 29, 2007 | Golf, Sports & Recreation

The home course advantage has been kind to the Trenton High School girls golf team this fall and the success continued on Tuesday night as the Lady Bulldogs captured a quadrangular meet at the Riverside Country Club.
Led by Hadley Jennings’ two-over-par 37, Trenton finished with a 190 to best Marceline’s score of 194 and South Harrison’s total of 232. Putnam County had a 262.

Jennings had a strong showing for the Lady Bulldogs, parring six holes and having a birdie on number three.
“Hadley had her best outing of the year,” Coach Ann Constant said. “Two-over-par was a great score.”
Teammate Molly Holeman also had a strong round with a 45. She parred holes four, five and nine.
“Molly also had a very consistent 45,” Constant said. “It looked like the only problems she encountered were on the par 3’s.”
Aaron Smith showed a big improvement over her Monday score, putting up a 54, which was 11 strokes better than the day before.
“Aaron had a much better round than on Monday night, which was good to see,” Constant said.
Taylor Cox also shot a 54 on the night while Hannah Barron put up a 55 to round out the team scoring.
“Taylor had a couple of holes that she needs to work on, but other than that, her game is coming around,” Constant said. “Hannah had a solid score. Although it didn’t count, we still would have won if it had.”
Marceline was led by Taylor Frandson, who shot a 42. Other Marceline scores included Megan Rodgers, 46; Brooke Niemeier, 52; Gabrielle Holder, 54; and Brittany Porter, 62.
South Harrison was led by Kayla Chambers with a 49. Other scores included Alyssa Bugbee, 50; Jessica Prewitt, 62; Mallory Baldwin, 72; and Amanda Spivey, 75.
Putnam County’s low score was turned in by Mattie Newman with a 60. Elizabeth Newman had a 50 and Mandy Welder finished with a 68. Tori Partridge and Katie Volk both shot a 72.
Trenton had the only JV team and shot its best score of the season with a 224. Alexandria Bain led the JV with a 53. Other scores were Olivia Helmandollar, 56; Camie Steinhoff, 58; Hannah Griffin, 59; and Chelsea McCollum, 69. Alexis Klinginsmith shot an 87.
“The JV team had its best team score so far this season,” Constant said. “They actually beat South Harrison’s varsity and Putnam County’s varsity.”
The golf team will next see action on Thursday at the Schuyler County Tournament.
