Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 10:30 a.m., fellowship at 11:30 a.m., a basket dinner at 12:30 p.m. and the program at 2:30 p.m. All church members, former church members and friends are invited to attend.
The first Sunday School and worship service were held in the Union School House, which was a log building and was started in 1886, about the same time services were held at Brainard School (or later called Locust Grove).
The Grundy Center School District was formed in 1881, taking in parts of the Brainard, Herbert and Union school districts. Sunday School and services were held at Locust Grove until the Grundy Center Church was built in 1887.
The congregation of the two school hoses attended the new church, called Grundy Center because it was so close to the center of Grundy County.
Since it was built, there have been several additions made, including a basement in 1928, three additional classrooms and a bathroom on the main floor in 1986, a new furnace and air conditioning in 2007, the basement ceiling and an enclosed doorway to the entry of the basement in 2007. A renovation was also done in 1953.
