Alfred H. Witten Jr., an 84-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died at 1:32 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Pastor Barry Boulware will officiate. Burial will be in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery at Edinburg.
A general visitation will begin after 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007.
Mr. Witten was born on June 22, 1923 in Trenton, the son of Alfred H. and Elizabeth “Betty” Taylor Witten. He attended grade school at Perry Chapel and spent a number of years with the Grundy County Learning Center.
He is survived by a sister, Nancy Austerman, and her husband Dr. Jack Austerman, their daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Dierenderfer, and their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David and Lisa Austerman, all of Oklahoma City, OK; and a brother, Robert Witten and his wife, Lucy, of Trenton, their daughter, Sue Witten, of Independence, and their son, Bill Witten of St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family suggests memorials to the Grundy County Learning Center or the Wesley United Methodist Church. They may be left at the funeral home.
