The instructors viewed the 2007 St. Louis Painters Invitational, which is on display at the museum until Sept. 16. The exhibit and accompanying catalog documents painting in St. Louis at this time, creating an artistic time capsule to which future St. Louis painters, critics, historians and collectors might refer. The concept of the show was to discover new artists and showcase artists whose work was already familiar. The show brought together artists whose works explored multiple aesthetic approaches, conceptual intent and historian associations and represented a wide range of ages and accomplishments.
