The Cameron Dragons proved victorious after beating Maysville in their opening game Friday night. They went on to defeat Savannah and Chillicothe on Saturday. Sunday they faced off against the undefeated Wayne County team and handed them a defeat. That Wayne County loss moved them to the losers bracket where they battled back to face Cameron Dragons again in the Championship game.
After playing two games already that afternoon, Wayne County placed second in the tournament losing to the Dragons 10-0. A second team from Cameron, Cameron Gold, placed third in the tournament after defeating Savannah in the third place game.
The sportsmanship trophy went to the Chillicothe Royals. Sportsmanship was outstanding among players, coaches and fans throughout the tournament. Saturday evening after one rain delay and two lightning delays, the Savannah Savages were leading the Chillicothe Royals by a score of 4-1 in the fourth inning. It became apparent that the game would have to be suspended for the evening because of weather. Chillicothe graciously agreed to call the game complete and take the defeat, which knocked them out of the tournament.
The Trenton team was defeated by Chillicothe in opening round play 9-5. They went on to pull out a win over Braymer 6-4 and then went down in defeat to Maysville 6-9 In their final game of the tournament.
