Phillips, an infielder, is the son of Marshall and Chelee Phillips of Braymer.
Phillips was named to the all-state baseball team three times during his high school career (honorable mention in his sophomore year, second team his junior year, and first team his senior year). His fielding percentage was .926 and his batting average was .485 with 26 steals.
In high school, Phillips was a member of the National Honor Society all four years. His collegiate educational emphasis will be on business marketing.
“Tyler is a nice ballplayer who had a very successful career at Braymer High School,” Coach Nold said. “We expect him to give us depth in the infield as he is particularly strong at the second base position.”
Phillips will join former Braymer teammate Kyle Kelley on the Pirates baseball team at North Central Missouri College this fall.
