The Grundy County Commission accepted a bid for the replacement of the Peacock Bridge during its regular meeting today.

According to Grundy County Clerk Kristi Urich, the commission accepted a bid from Hoef Contractors of Mexico, MO to replace the bridge, located in Myers Township. The bid of $317,952 was the low bid and is less than the engineer’s estimate. Mrs. Urich said construction is expected to begin in late summer.
