The Laredo City Council agreed to offer a commercial water rate on a trial basis and approved two requests from the Laredo Fair Board during a meeting held Monday evening at city hall.
Laredo Council Approves Water Rate Plan
According to City Clerk Phillip Shepherd, the council met with Joe Bethards, president of the board for Granada Homes. Bethards had earlier requested that the city offer a commercial water rate. After discussion, the council agreed to offer, on a 90-day trial basis, a commercial water rate for customers using a minimum of 15,000 gallons of water per month. Customers meeting that requirement will be charged the full rate for the first 15,000 gallons and will be charged a rate of 10.85 cents per gallon for any gallons over that amount.
The council met with Velda VanArsdale, representing the Laredo Fair Board, and approved her request to donate the first 1,000 gallons of water used by the fair board. In addition, the council agreed to allow the fair board to use the lot behind city hall for the tractor pull. The fair is scheduled for July 28-30.
In other business, the council accepted a bid of $101 from Frank Golden for used telephone poles and announced that the four councilmembers, the mayor and Shepherd will attend the Missouri Municipal League meeting on July 24 at the Ketcham Com-munity Center in Trenton.
A closed session was held to discuss the final payment for the water tower project. A meeting with the engineering firm, Rhodes Engineering of Brookfield, as well as representatives of the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, will be held at 5 p.m. July 23 at city hall at which time the matter will be discussed.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6.
