Work on the replacement of the Slough Bridge will get under way soon after the Grundy County Commission officially accepted a bid from a Columbia company during its meeting on Tuesday.

According to Grundy County Clerk Kristi Urich, the commission officially accepted the bid of $598,090.20 submitted by Boone Construction. Following formal approval by the Missouri Department of Transportation, work will begin, with hopes to have the project completed by early fall.
Mrs. Urich also said the commission plans to meet at 11 a.m. Friday to open bids for the replacement of the Peacock Bridge in Myers Township.
