Donald Rex Olson, a 78-year-old resident of Wyaconda died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Brookfield Life Care Center in Brookfield.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Galt East Cemetery. Rev. Gene Shreffler officiated.
Pallbearers were Randy Olson, Rich Olson, David Olson, Debbie Smith, Wayne Olson and Stanley Olson.
Mr. Olson was born Sept. 25, 1928 to Oscar and Media Shotten Olson. He was raised in Granger and graduated from Granger High School. He worked as an automotive mechanic for Dick Ventura Dealership in Quincy, IL. In more recent years, he took care of his mother and spent time fishing and attending flea markets.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Olson and his wife, Sandy of Humphreys, and Rich Olson of Greensville, SC; two brothers, Lee Olson and his wife, Millie of Keokuk, IA, and Richard Olson of Alexandria; and three grandchildren, Kristal, David and Ashlee Olson, all of Humphreys.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Elder; and a brother, Stanley Olson.
